perf6.000x9.000.inddOur first full-length poetry book, THE INCLINATION TO MAKE WAVES by Hilary Sideris, is in development now.

The book’s title, The Inclination to Make Waves, comes from a line in Hilary Sideris’s poem “Flat,” in which nothing makes waves. Instead, it’s all predictable – “flat,” “stays the same”, “[only] one story of the house” – and unmusical (“below true pitch”). Against this flatness (of pitch and predictably), Sideris offers us these poems, musically alive, linguistically alert, playful to the point of pain and deep seriousness, teasing out signs and insinuations, riffing on idioms, eliding, repeating, extracting, extorting, until language surrenders to her demands. – Neil Shepard
